Simon studied dentistry at Queen’s University Belfast and graduated with honours in 2001. He completed the MFDS examination at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh while also working at Belfast Dental School.

In 2005 Simon was accepted on to a specialist training programme in Prosthodontics at Edinburgh Dental Institute.  In 2007 he completed a Masters Degree in Prosthodontics with Distinction at the University of Edinburgh. Then in 2008 he was successful in the MRD examination at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.  This completed his specialist training and he was accepted onto the General Dental Council specialist list in Prosthodontics. 

Since becoming a specialist, Simon has worked in specialist practices treating patients on referral from local General Dental Practitioners. He has also been a clinical tutor in the Queen’s Dental School and currently teaches the newly graduated dentists in their foundation year.

Simon is a Royal College of Surgeons approved sedation supervisor. Simon is a director of Greenwood Specialist Dental Clinic and takes pride in ensuring all his patients get the best care possible. Simon’s wide range of expertise in all areas of fixed/removable prosthodontics and implant dentistry enable him to offer his patients a full range of restorative treatment options tailored to their individual requirements.

Joanne Mawhinney is a Specialist in Periodontics. She received her dental degree from Trinity College Dublin in 2002 and a Diploma in Clinical Dentistry in Periodontics from the same institution in 2012. She has worked as part of the Periodontal team in the School of Dentistry and supervised undergraduate students as part of her role.

Joanne’s expertise lies in the field of periodontics, which focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum diseases and conditions related to the supporting structures of teeth. As a periodontist, she plays a crucial role in maintaining oral health and managing issues such as gum inflammation and recession.
Joanne Mawhinney has been recognised for her knowledge and experience. She regularly gives postgraduate talks to dentists and dental hygienists. She was invited to give a TED-style talk at the British Society for Restorative Dentistry’s 50th Anniversary Meeting. She is a member of the British and Irish Societies of Periodontology and regularly attends national and international meetings.

Joanne accepts private referrals for non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy, crown lengthening and gingival grafting.

Pádraic graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2010, with distinctions in Conservation, and Practice of Dentistry. Since qualifying, he attained Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, RCPS(Glasgow), and worked initially in mixed General Practice, before focussing on the placement and restoration of dental implants.

He works predominantly in Implant referral practice, and is experienced in all aspects of Implant Dentistry, from single unit cases to full-arch fixed and removable prosthodontics, including bone grafting and sinus grafts. Following further post graduate study, he examined for and was awarded the prestigious Membership in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Pádraic also has a keen interest in continuing dental education.

He provides training on Implant prosthetics for GDPs and provides mentorship on IV sedation. Additionally, he is a board member of the College of General Dentistry, Northern Ireland Division, and most recently was convenor and Conference Director for the College’s biannual conference. In recognition of his postgraduate study, he is an Associate Fellow of the College.

George Studied Dentistry at Newcastle University, graduating in 2012. Following graduation, he went on to complete his MFDS at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2014.

George spent a number of years in General Practice, providing all aspects of routine dental care and also working as an Educational Supervisor, where he trained newly qualified dentists as they adapted to working in practice. During this time he gained his PGCert in Clinical Education from Queen’s University Belfast.

Further to his work in practice, George has invested heavily in further training and education, completing courses in restorative dentistry, travelling to learn advanced techniques from leaders in their field, as well as completing a Masters’ degree in Aesthetic Dentistry with distinction from King’s College, London. He now runs postgraduate teaching courses in posterior composites and rubber dam techniques.

At Greenwood Specialist Dental Clinic, George accepts referrals for complex restorative dentistry, with a specific interest in tooth wear cases.

Jane graduated from Queen’s University in 2001 and attained her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2004.

Jane’s career has involved working in both hospital and practice settings. She has gained her Oral Surgery experience from posts held in Altnagelvin Area Hospital and the Ulster Hospital Dundonald Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery departments as well as working in a private referral oral surgery specialist practice.

In 2011, Jane completed a Masters in the Legal Aspects of Medical Practice through Cardiff University and achieved the post of Honorary Lecturer at Queen’s University in Dental Law and Ethics. She currently teaches oral surgery to the dental students in the Urgent Student Clinic in the School of Dentistry.

Jane is a Royal College of Surgeons approved sedation supervisor.

Jane is a Director of Greenwood Specialist Dental Clinic and accepts referrals for oral surgery and treatment under IV sedation.

Natalie is a NEBDN qualified dental nurse and our Lead Dental Nurse. She has completed NEBDN certificates in both Sedation and Radiography Dental Nursing.

Colleen is a NEBDN qualified dental nurse and is our lead dental nurse in both decontamination and sedation.  She has completed her NEBDN certificate in sedation dental nursing and is currently working towards her radiography certificate.

Lucy is a NEBDN qualified dental nurse and has achieved NEBDN certificates in both sedation and radiography dental nursing.  She is our Treatment Co-ordinator at Greenwood and is happy to answer any queries patients have on treatment and finance options.

Lauren is a NEBDN qualified dental nurse and is our dental implant lead nurse. She is currently working towards her NEBDN certificate in sedation dental nursing.

Winnie is a NEBDN qualified dental nurse and our radiography lead nurse. She has completed her NEBDN certificate in sedation dental nursing and is currently working towards her radiography certificate.

Bethany is the newest member of the nursing team and is currently working towards her NEBDN certificate in dental nursing.

Steph is a NEBDN qualified dental nurse and has completed NEBDN certificates in both sedation and radiography dental nursing.  She works in the School of Dentistry Oral Surgery Department and assists Justin Barnes in endodontics here at Greenwood.

Jolisa is a NEBDN qualified dental nurse and has completed NEBDN certificates in sedation and radiography dental nursing.  She is Patient Care Co-ordinator for Justin Barnes as well as his endodontic assistant.
